His sister, Julie Ann Parsons, is also a teacher. He is the son of Milton Joseph "Mickey/Jack" Parsons Jr. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas, and was raised in one of its northern suburbs, Spring. In film, Parsons has voiced the lead character in Home (2015) and played supporting roles in Hidden Figures (2016) and Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019).
